For typical BS/MD admissions clients, we suggest applying to at least eight to twelve programs (divided between safety, mid-range, and reach programs) to maximize the chances of gaining admission. Given the highly competitive nature of BS/MD programs (often with acceptance rates below 5%), we recommend a strategic mix that balances program selectivity with your academic profile and medical exposure experiences.

To maximize the chances of gaining admission to competitive BS/MD programs, we strongly suggest applying to at least ten to fifteen programs. This is especially important given that BS/MD acceptance rates are among the lowest of any undergraduate admissions pathway.

***Our experience shows that without a waitlist appeal letter or letter of continued interest, the applicant has a 12% chance of getting off a waitlist at a competitive BS/MD program. With a good waitlist appeal letter and waitlist campaign, that moves up to 45%. A waitlist campaign involves contacting the school on multiple occasions to remind them of your accomplishments and continued interest.
