Planning an ERAS Fellowship Application for the 2027 Season

Fellowship application planning begins with the specialty, program, and recruitment cycle. ERAS delivers applications to participating programs; it does not register you for a match.

Confirm the Application Route

Check each program’s participation and eligibility requirements before paying application fees. Some programs use other systems. The AAMC fellowship application page links to participating programs and current resources.

Use the Correct Calendar

For the 2027 ERAS season, compare the July or December fellowship cycle with your program’s recruitment schedule. Use the official ERAS timeline and the program’s own deadline. Distinguish the date applicants can submit from the date programs can review, and confirm the intended training start date.

Arrange Access and Documents

Follow the ERAS Fellowship Documents Office instructions for a current-season token and document processing. Request references early enough for the relevant deadlines. Check which transcripts, evaluations, exam records, statements, and additional documents each program requires.

Register Separately for a Match When Required

ERAS registration does not register you with NRMP or another matching organization. Confirm the matching service, eligibility, fees, interview calendar, ranking period, and applicable rules separately. Create and certify a rank list according to that service’s instructions after evaluating the programs.

Review Before Submitting

Check program names, assignments, experience descriptions, publication status, and contact details. Use the current AAMC fellowship FAQs to resolve system questions, and ask programs about their own requirements.
