Given the highly competitive nature of DVM programs (often with acceptance rates below 15%), we recommend a strategic mix that balances program selectivity with your academic profile, animal experience hours, and veterinary shadowing background.

To maximize the chances of gaining admission to competitive veterinary programs, we strongly suggest applying to at least ten to fifteen schools. This is especially important given that veterinary school acceptance rates are among the lowest of any graduate admissions pathway in healthcare.
