Preparing for an MBA Interview

An MBA interview gives you another opportunity to explain your experience, goals, and reasons for choosing a program. Your answers should be consistent with the rest of your application.

Check the Interview Format

Read whether the interview is live, recorded, individual, or group-based, and follow the instructions on timing and materials. Do not assume every school uses the same process.

Explain Your Career Direction

Be ready to discuss your current work, the change you want to make, and why the program is relevant. Research actual curriculum and resources rather than relying on reputation alone.

Choose True Examples

Prepare examples of teamwork, leadership, feedback, and difficult decisions. Explain your own role and learning without inflating results or claiming credit for others’ work.

Practice Follow-Up Questions

Use mock conversations to test whether your answers are clear and specific. Listen carefully and adapt instead of reciting a script. Coaching can provide feedback, but it cannot guarantee admission.

Ask Useful Questions

Where the format allows, ask about program features you could not understand from published information. Follow any rules on post-interview communication and keep all representations accurate.
